E Komo Mai

Aloha e komo mai (welcome) to Keaka O Kalani I Na Mauna (Reflections of the Heavens in the Mountains) Hawaiian and Polynesian Dance School

Mahalo (Thank you) for your interest in learning more about our school. Keaka O Kalani is a hula and polynesian dance school based in Boulder, Colorado. We have two sister schools with whom we collaborate with – NoCoHula in Fort Collins and Kehulili O Kailani in Encinitas, CA.  Keaka O Kalani is under the guidance of Kumu Hula Randy Kaulana Chang of Hula Halau Kaulana Ka Hale Kula O Na Pua O Ka Aina in Torrance, CA.

Our mission is to pass on the aloha spirit as well as our love and appreciation of Hawaiian and other Polynesian dance, language, and culture, in a non-competitive, yet committed environment. Whether you have recently taken a trip to Hawai’i or the other islands of Polynesia; are from the islands and are missing home; or you simply just love to dance, we try to accommodate all levels of experience and interest and provide a supportive environment for learning.

As many students of this art form have come to realize, hula often becomes a way of life to those who learn it. Hula is more than a dance — it is a way to communicate, cherish and preserve Hawai’i’s rich history. Each mele (song) and it’s accompanying dance can become a history lesson, an anthropological journey, and a means to appreciate what the Hawaiian people, their history and legends bring to the wonderfully diverse cornucopia of cultures that, in the end, represent all of us.
